The History Group meets on the first Tuesday of each month in St. Thomas Church lounge at 2pm. This venue provides a comfortable and friendly environment for the Group.

This group works very much to the u3a founding principle that willing members do some research and prepare presentations of their choice. The group mostly uses video projection. Anyone who is not used to Powerpoint or similar software is given help in various ways. In this way the group enriches the learning process.

After each talk we have tea or coffee and biscuits and chat. There is a small charge (£2) to cover the hire of the venue and refreshments.

For the last few years we have covered all aspects of the Victorian period and have gathered some fascinating insights into our forebears’ lives and studied “Ladies Lost in History” (you may have heard the name but what did they really do?) and our programme is below.

New Members and visitors are most welcome to join us with no compulsion to prepare a talk. But, if they are interested in presenting, friendly help is readily available.
