We left Trowbridge slightly later than usual. We arrived at Waddesdon around 1pm. In time for lunch and a wander round the Christmas Market. We had timed tickets into the house. The house was decorated to represent the festive journey across Europe by Baron Ferdinard de Rothschild. Some of the rooms were stunning. I particularly liked the White Drawing Room with decorations inspired by the lake and Alpine Christmases and the Blue Drawing room with decorations inspired by the blue and white palette of Delft. On leaving the house we proceeded to the gardens to follow the light trail, passing the from of the House which had an immersive light show – this featured specially commissioned digital projections, lighting effects and music all choreographed to wrap around you.
It was a very good day – a long day as we didn’t get back to Trowbridge until around 9pm.
