Swanage & Poole by Train and Boat

Swanage Railway

It was another hot June day when we left Trowbridge for the first part of the trip to Swanage. We took the steam train from Nordon, passing Corfe Castle to Swanage. On arrival ,there was a change to the itinerary – it was back on the coach for a drive across the Purbeck peninsula to Poole. No time for a fish and chip lunch.

We had time for a drink then onto the boat for a cruise around the islands in Poole Harbour. The commentary was very informative. Many of us didn’t know there were so many islands. We passed Brownsea Island amongst many others. It was very interesting. The boat company arranged for those who wanted fish & chips to have them on the boat. On arrival back in Poole we had time for ice cream before boarding the coach back to Trowbridge. Despite the changes – it was a good day.
