In the middle of June, members enjoyed a trip to Brownsea Island, in
Dorset – we took a short ferry trip from Poole Harbour out to the
island (we love a boat trip!). A National Trust volunteer greeted us,
then went on to give us information about the history of the island
and its connections with the Scout Movement – there is a bronze
statue of the movement’s founder, Robert Baden-Powell.
The weather on the day was glorious – very hot – but the
woodlands of the island provided us with plenty of shade. A few of us
were even lucky enough to spot some red squirrels.
It was a lovely trip, and so nice to be by the sea and enjoy the
wonderful Dorset countryside.
