Theatre Group

Theatre Group 2 was established towards the end of 2007; its aim being to organise three or four visits a year to London or provincial theatres. At the first general meeting in January 2008 suggestions for shows included opera, ballet, Shakespeare, musicals, and Gilbert & Sullivan. We now have over 80 members and trying to meet everyone’s preference is proving quite a challenge.

During 2008 we have visited the Hippodrome in Bristol to see the Welsh National Opera perform Mozart’s Magic Flute and the Adelphi Theatre in London for the much acclaimed Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat.  The autumn trip was to the Hexagon Theatre in Reading for a performance of Shakespeare’s Romeo & Juliet. To start 2009 we made the short trip to Swindon on January 20^th to see the Russian State Ballet of Siberia in a performance of Giselle.

The group is open to anyone who enjoys the theatre and suggestions for future visits are always welcome.
